PMS: 10 Signs You are Having it

For most women, it's an unknown fact that adverse manifestations brought about by PMS or Premenstrual Syndrome are more than just emotionally-related. When this term comes to mind, one might initially think how touchy women could get when they have their monthly period. The term may seem to pertain to the onset of menses yet women who experience the symptoms could have them while in their cycle. To break the common belief on PMS, here are some facts that actually happen to women at the start and during their menstrual cycle, though may occur differently or infrequently from one female individual to another.

1-Mood swings and irritability are commonly associated when women have their period. The neurochemical changes in the brain are believed to be causing this type of reaction. Limit caffeine and alcohol intake to reduce this. 2-Stress and anxiety levels are increased during menstruation for some. Proper exercise though could relieve this and improves blood circulation by increasing the beta-endorphin production of the neurons. 3-Abdominal bloating is also one manifestation. Try to limit eating salty foods to reduce fluid retention. 4-Abdominal cramps is often a common effect of PMS too. There are prescription drugs available specifically made for this but trying to increase physical activity would actually do. 5-Muscle and back pains also occur but could similarly be reduced through exercise. 6-It may also bring about changes in sleeping habits and/or insomnia so try to drink as much dairy products to get a good sleep. Glucose induces a good sleep. 7-Headache could also occur. Taking analgesics though could be a quick relief. 8-Fatigue may be present to some women so it wouldn't hurt to get as much rest to relieve this. 9-The hormonal changes in a woman's body cause the glands to go haywire thus triggering acne for some women. 10-Changes in energy level may also take place, so rest if you can and maintain a well-balanced diet.
